Lights. LED lights have been a terrific boon for bikes as they are bright and long lasting. You need white lights on the front of your bike and red lights on the rear. Consider mounting a white light on your helmet. That way, at an intersection when you turn your head sideways to see if a car is coming, the car can also see you.
